Marino heads STK1000 grid after red flag in QP

In the QP session for the STK1000 class at Assen Marino took pole, with Razgatlioglu second and Tamburini third

A 1’36.775 lap for Florian Marino (Pata Yamaha Official STK1000 Team) in QP1 at the Acerbis Dutch Round on Saturday afternoon was enough to give the Frenchman pole, with Toprak Razgatlioglu (Kawasaki Puccetti Racing) and Roberto Tamburini (PATA Yamaha Official STK 1000 Team) also on the front row.

Dutch wildcard Danny De Boer (Van Zon Remeha) qualified at the head of row two much to the delight of the home crowd, whilst Marco Faccani (Althea BMW Racing Team) and Mike Jones (Aruba.it Racing - Junior Team) were fifth and sixth respectively.

With six minutes remaining the session was red flagged due track conditions at turn 7 after a crash for Michael Rinaldi (Aruba.it Racing - Junior Team).

The winner of the opening STK1000 round at Aragon, Rinaldi did not return to the track after the session resumed and ended up seventh on the grid, in front of Federico Sandi (Berclaz Racing Team) and Marvin Fritz (Bayer -Bikerbox Yamaichi) on the third row.

Illia Mykhalchyk (TripleM Racing), Dutch rider Wayne Tessels  (Agro On-Benjan-Kawasaki) and Jeremy Guarnoni (Pedercini Racing) all qualified on the fourth row.

Federico Sanchioni (Clasitaly) also crashed during the session and ended up in the penultimate slot on the grid in 34th place for Sunday’s STK1000 race, which takes place at 3.15pm local time in the Netherlands.
